ABOUT PRAIRIE HEIGHTS

Prairie Heights exists to connect those apart from God with Christ and a church family.

WELCOME

We are so glad you are here.

When you come to a service, you can expect to hear a full band playing current worship music, messages that are relevant to your life TODAY, and enjoy some awesome coffee (that you can bring INTO SERVICE)!

Kidventure provides safe, age-appropriate environments for kids birth-5th grade, where they learn about Jesus’ love each Sunday during service.

Oxygen, our student ministry for 6th-12th graders, meets Wednesdays during the school year for fun, relevant messages, small group time, and serving our community.

There is a space for YOU at Prairie Heights to be known, to find community, and to be challenged to grow in your faith.

ANNUAL REPORT

Our Core Values

PURSUE JESUS

365 days a year

Healthy relationships require time and effort, including our relationship with God. We are passionate about regularly spending time with Jesus through prayer, study, and personal growth.

CHOOSE COMMUNITY

Church is the people

People are the heart of the church.  Authentic community is what God intended the church to be. We choose to be in each other’s lives, take care of one another, and invite others on the journey.

SERVE PEOPLE

No strings attached

We live out our faith by meeting the needs of people with no strings attached.  We are willing to go above and beyond for people and seek out proactive solutions to the felt needs of our community.

GIVE GENEROUSLY

In all circumstances

We trust God with all our resources; financial, emotional, societal, and giftings. All we have been given is from God; that is why we give generously as a tangible way to love God and love people.

What We Believe

God and Salvation

  • We believe in one living God, Creator of all things. God is holy and revealed in the Trinity as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4, Revelation 1:8, Genesis 1-2, Matthew 28:19)
  • Jesus is the Son of God and He was fully God and fully human. He was sent by God to earth and lived a sinless life, died on a cross, rose from the dead and is now seated at the right hand of God in heaven. In doing this, Jesus paid the price in full for the world’s debt of sin. (Matthew 1:18-23, John 1:14, 2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Hebrews 1:3)
  • We are saved by grace through belief in Jesus Christ (his life, death and resurrection) power. When we place our faith and trust in him, our response is to turn from our sin and follow Jesus Christ. By making the decision to follow Jesus, we are promised eternal life. (Romans 10:9, John 3:16-17, John 14:6, Galatians 5:24-25)
  • Jesus will return to establish His kingdom and to be our final judge. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, Revelation 21:1-7, 1 Corinthians 4:5)
  • The Holy Spirit leads us into a relationship with Jesus and lives in every believer as they trust in Him. He is our Helper, our Comforter, our Teacher and our Guide as we grow in faith. (Galatians 5:22-25, Ephesians 1:13, John 14:26)
  • God created all people in His image, and everyone matters to Him. Everyone has sinned and needs God’s grace. (Genesis 1:27, John 3:16-17, Romans 3:23)

The Bible and The Church

  • The Bible is the inspired Word of God and reveals the will of God regarding all matters of faith and conduct. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
  • Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church, which is made up of the body of believers, those who follow Christ’s leadership in their lives. (Ephesians 4:15-16)
  • The Church exists to love God, love people, and go make disciples of Jesus. (Mark 12:30-31, Ephesians 4:11-16, 1 Corinthians 12:27-28, Matthew 28:18-20)

Prairie Heights History

How Prairie Heights Began…

Prairie Heights Community Church was started in 2000 by Jon and Teri Hauser and a group of “Originators” with the sole purpose of reaching people for Jesus. In April 2001, 207 people attended Prairie Heights’ Grand Opening service at the Doublewood Inn in Fargo.

Prairie Heights has toured around the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo Community, hosting services in 20 different locations. No matter where we were, our focus was always on reaching people. As more people were finding hope in Jesus, we outgrew our portable space at the Fargodome and knew it was God’s timing to build our first permanent building with a kids area, sunlit lobby, auditorium and coffee bar (we love coffee). In December of 2016, Prairie Heights hosted our first service at the new location for 1,400 attendees.

In 2020, the leadership baton was passed down and Beth Nelson was named the Lead Pastor.

We have experienced God change lives over and over again, with hundreds committing their life to Christ. Together, our church family continues to STAND for our community. Through it all, one thing has stayed constant: our focus on connecting people with Christ and a church family.
