PHCC Update

Comfort is the enemy of growth. If you want comfort climb back into bed. If you want to grow and change the world, trust God and “get in” over your head.” ~Jon H

If we are truly following Christ there will be many decisions in our spiritual journey that are not “comfortable”.  Comfort is an enemy to spiritual growth.  Those who choose comfort will miss out on an authentic friendship with God and with others.  Jesus wants us to go beyond “comfort” to devotion to His Father, and discover a “Holy Spirit soaked life” and authentic friendships with one another.  1 John is a great book in the Bible for spiritual growth.  1 John 1:6-7 says “If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” We all have choices to make daily but my heart longs to walk in the light that Jesus gives me each day.  I am learning more all the time about my weaknesses, God’s strength, His timing and His gentle whispers in my life.  What a great joy it is to be led by Him!!  And I desire to be used by God to invite and encourage others to walk in His light.

This Sunday we will wrap up the TXT series.  I’m looking forward to sharing with you some tools and ideas to help you understand the Bible.

FARGO MARATHON UPDATE: We have an opportunity to earn 1,000s of dollars to help furnish the ministry center, develop a partnership with the Fargo Marathon, and serve and meet 1,000s of people! The Fargo Marathon is very short on volunteers at this point.  Mark Knutson, the director of the Fargo Marathon, is going to be at Prairie Heights this Sunday and in-between services he will train in anyone who has signed up to be a volunteer.  You are invited to volunteer here and see if a shift works for you. If it does, then put in Prairie Heights as the non-profit you are with.  If there are 100 PHCC volunteers we will receive a $1,000 bonus that will help us furnish the coffee bar at the ministry center!  We can wear our red SERVILIZATION shirts!

My wife, Teri’s, 10 and 11 yr old sister and brother were with us last Sunday.  They asked if they could please go to both services.  We said sure.  When they got to church we let them pick if they wanted to go to Kidventure during first service and then to worship service at 11am or vice versa.  They decided to go to Kidventure first.  When Teri went to pick them up to bring them to worship service they asked if they could please attend Kidventure a second time!  I knew that was going to happen!  I think that is so cool.  Praise God for EVERYONE who invests in our children on Sundays!

Received this email today from a recent guest I have never been to a church where I felt so welcome. I love the fact that I can feel the love in the room as soon as I walk in. I have never felt judged or unwelcome. I have searched for almost 35 years for a church I can go to where I can build my relationship with God. You all have inspired me to be a better person. Thank you.” Thank you to EVERY Prairie Heighter for making this church family warm and welcoming.  Lives are being changed as God works in and through you!  Thank you to EVERYONE who serves in our First Impressions ministry!

God is up to something HUGE…don’t miss it!  Add to the momentum DAILY!  I can’t imagine what is possible with the mighty way God is at work!

See you on Sunday.
